Regular massage during pregnancy helps mom’s body adjust to its rapid changes with greater ease and comfort. This treatment can:
- Relax sore, over-stretched muscles
- Sooth the effects of hormonal elevations
- Increase joint flexibility
- Encourage the release of excess fluids
- Help skin to stay supple and hydrated
- Promote restful sleep
- Enhance blood and nutrient circulation for mom and baby
Pregnancy massage is generally comforting, healthy and increases mom’s enjoyment of this special time as she is carrying the precious gift of life.
Massage during pregnancy is as soothing, healing, and nourishing for baby as it is for mom! Because mom is baby’s lifeline, if mom is comfortable, relaxed, and at ease, these feelings are automatically transferred to baby, creating a healthier and happier growing environment. Relaxed muscles and joints, decreased fluid retention, and restful sleep lead to more effective circulation for mom which is transferred to baby in the form of more nutrient and oxygen-rich blood.
At Natural Body works, we use a side-lying position with supportive pillows for your Pregnancy Massage treatments. Our “moms in waiting” often tell us that the most comfortable they are all month is when they lie down on our massage tables!
Allowing your body time to adjust to change is especially important during pregnancy. If you are new to massage and have not been in ongoing, regular, monthly massage treatment prior to becoming pregnant, it is required that you wait until the 12th week of pregnancy to begin your Pregnancy Massage treatment.
